Valiente Coaching Principles
Valiente Coaches adhere to the following principles at all times whilst in a coaching relationship with a client. These principles are adapted from the International Coaching Federation and the Australian Institute of Professional Coaches.
These principles establish what you can expect from your Valiente Coach and how you, as a client, are expected to conduct yourself in your coaching relationship with a Valiente Coach.
A supporting and communicative environment
Our coaches will create and maintain a safe and supportive environment that promotes ongoing mutual respect and trust. It is a relationship in which we as coaches:
- are genuinely concerned for your welfare and future,
- demonstrate personal integrity, honesty and sincerity,
- establish clear agreements and keep promises,
- respect for your perceptions, learning style and personal being,
- provides ongoing support for and champions new behaviours and actions, including those involving risk taking and fear of failure, and
- asks permission to coach you in sensitive, new areas.
Valiente Coaches will say what we mean and live up to our values. We will show accountability and integrity in all of our actions. Where we cannot deliver to what was agreed, we will discuss this immediately and with honesty and openness. We are committed to maintaining clear communications, relationships of openness, trust and mutual accountability.
We bring our full selves and our top coaching skills to every session
Valiente Coaches dedicate their time and attention to fully focus on you during our coaching sessions. We are committed to being fully present during our coaching sessions, which means that we:
- are curious and flexible during the coaching process,
- access our own intuition and ‘go with our gut’ to achieve the best outcomes,
- are open to not knowing and taking appropriate risks,
- see many ways to work with you and to choose, in the moment, which is most effective,
- feel that humour helps to create lightness and energy,
- are confident in our ability to shift perspectives to help you take action, and
- are confident in working with strong emotions, can self-manage and are not overpowered or enmeshed by your emotions.
We set healthy boundaries
At the start of any coaching relationship with a Valiente Coach, you’ll discuss our Coaching Boundaries. These are important ground rules that set the expectations of behaviours and boundaries between coach and client throughout the coaching process.
These boundaries are shared with you at the beginning of your relationship to establish the supportive and safe environment where coaching is at its most effective. Some the key ground rules you’ll discuss with your Valiente Coach include:
- openness and honesty
- fitness to attend our sessions (you should be effected by any substance)
- confidentiality of discussion content
- integrity in all our dealings, and
- commitment from both coach and client to achieving the coaching goals.
You and your Valiente Coach may establish other ground rules and boundaries specific to your particular coaching relationship and your boundaries and ground rules may evolve over time.
While Valiente Coaches are here to provide help and support and have a genuine concern for your welfare and future, they are not psychiatrists or counsellors, and cannot provide medical support or treat medically diagnosed issues. We will always be clear in providing advice to you when your needs and our services are no longer compatible in this way.
We are present and committed to you.
Your concerns are our concerns, and listening is one of our greatest priorities. We take the time to understand your situation and needs as an important first step in the coaching process.
No matter what your needs, we are here to listen, understand and work through with you to achieve your goals. There is nowhere else we would rather be, so please take your time to talk and share why you’ve chosen to work with your Valiente Coach.

Enterprise Change Manager
Not for Profit Organisation
Leigh brings a contemporary approach, is articulate, engaging and clearly a thought leader in her field. I would have no hesitation in recommending Leigh and I hope to work with her again in the future.
Not for Profit Organisation
Leigh shared her wisdom of over 20 years experience. If you are new to change, or thinking about best of breed practices in the change space, I would highly recommend giving Leigh a call. I walked out ready, willing and able to forge ahead with the massive transformational project I have ahead of me.
I had the pleasure of working with Lesleigh on some of my projects and found her to be a invaluable asset. She was able to provide a deep understanding of IT practices, technologies and processes, and help deliver successful outcomes. She also selflessly gave up her time to coach and mentor me. Her passion for what she does is few and far between.
Leigh is an amazing person to work with. She is a great leader & mentor with exceptional Change Management skills, which involves managing conflicts, talking to your team and helping each member understand difficult part of the change; whether the conflict was with a person or was a part of the process, she was able to manage and handle it with her expertise, patience & perseverance.
Lesleigh is an excellent program and project manager who also provides additional skills as an accomplished change and communications professional. Lesleigh is particularly recommended for ICT programs and projects in the public sector, especially Public Health.
Valiente has a unique understanding of the challenges that confront modern, forward looking organisations whose principle aim is to make the process of transitioning to new ways of thinking more likely to succeed.
I've worked with Lesleigh on large scale State Government projects that spans multi-Facilities. Lesleigh is extremely professional and her understanding of the Patient Journey and focus on Patient outcomes through the life cycle of the projects is achieved through applying her best practice policies and through enabling those around her.
Lesleigh managed the stakeholder engagement strategy, planning, and execution for a range of projects of national significance. She successfully navigated the very difficult, and at times politically-charged landscape of national eHealth stakeholder issues. Lesleigh has a tireless work ethic, is highly productive and sets herself a very high standard of excellence. She understands how to bring stakeholders along on a journey of understanding and is dedicated to delivering successful outcomes through the programs that she is involved in.
Lesleigh is able to manage diverse personalities to achieve good outcomes. She is able to rapidly understand complex issues and willing to contribute the extra effort to achieve optimal outcomes. She has proven efficient and responsive and able to produce documentation in a timely fashion.
